Fort St John Sewer Replacement Services

RAM provided civil construction services by repairing and replacing sanitary sewers at two distinct locations within the City of Fort St. John, ensuring adherence to municipal standards. The team managed the entire process, from bidding and scheduling to traffic management, execution, and closeout, deploying a Quesnel-based crew for a year of dedicated work in northeastern BC.

The municipal sewer services included the replacement of sewers within occupied streets and active neighborhoods, carefully navigating around existing utilities. The trench was shored, the invert was surveyed to grade, and backfill was compacted in lifts. Finally, the road was reinstated to maintain a seamless surface, allowing residents to retain their services throughout the sewer replacement program.

Sanitary Sewer Installation

A new sanitary main is being installed as part of a two-location sewer replacement program. The bedding, pipe, joint checks, and compacted lifts are critical components that municipal sewer services inspectors verify long before the road is restored.

Compaction and Backfill

Backfill is placed in controlled lifts and compacted as part of civil construction services. On a municipal street, settlement appears two winters later—both lift thickness and compaction testing are crucial, especially for municipal sewer services where a sewer replacement program is in place.
