Concrete Foundations and Structures

Excavation, forming, reinforcing, pouring and backfill for industrial, commercial, municipal and mine site foundations. RAM Excavating delivers foundation scopes with a combination of our own forces and concrete subcontractors we manage directly, so the owner has one contractor accountable from the dig to the finished structure.

Own forces where it counts, managed trades where it makes sense

We form and pour with our own crews, and on larger or more specialised structures we bring in and manage concrete subcontractors under our contract. Which way a job runs depends on the structure, the schedule and the site. What does not change is that RAM holds the excavation, the shoring, the bearing surface, the backfill, the schedule and the coordination, and answers to the owner for the result.

The part most foundation problems come from

Foundations fail at the interface with the ground far more often than in the concrete. Bearing surface preparation, groundwater control, frost protection, engineered backfill in controlled lifts and compaction testing around the structure are all civil work, and they are what we do every day. We also set precast: vaults, bases, barriers, boxes and chambers, on prepared and surveyed bedding.

Foundation scopes we deliver

  • Excavation, shoring and dewatering for foundation construction
  • Bearing surface preparation, lean concrete and granular base
  • Forming, reinforcing steel placement and concrete pouring
  • Strip footings, spread footings, pile caps and grade beams
  • Slabs on grade, equipment pads and industrial machine foundations
  • Retaining walls, containment structures and thrust blocks
  • Precast vault, chamber, base and structure setting
  • Engineered backfill, compaction testing and site restoration

Coordinated with the rest of the civil scope

Foundation work almost never arrives on its own. It comes attached to site preparation, underground services, drainage, road access and surface restoration, and those interfaces are where schedules usually come apart. Carrying the whole civil package under one contractor removes the handoffs, and it is how we deliver most of our industrial and mine site projects.

Where we do this work
