Settling Pond and Water Management Construction
Settling ponds, sedimentation basins, polishing cells, ditching and site water control for mines, forestry operations, industrial sites and municipal projects. RAM Excavating builds the water management infrastructure that keeps a site inside its permit, and we maintain it once it is in service.
Built to the permit, not to a guess
Pond construction is regulated work. Volumes, freeboard, liner specification, inlet and outlet structures and discharge points are all conditions of an operating permit, and an owner is exposed the moment the constructed facility does not match the drawings. We build to the engineered design, survey the finished grades, document liner placement and seaming, and hand over the as-built record the regulator and the owner environmental group actually need.
Maintenance on a live pond
Ponds fill in. Cleaning a pond that is still receiving flow, with water on three sides of the machine, is one of the higher risk tasks in civil work and we treat it that way. Edge fall protection, life rings and personal flotation staged within reach, a dedicated spotter, mat or bench access built before the machine moves in, and a written procedure that everyone on the crew has walked through. We have been doing this on remote mine sites for decades without incident.

Why owners hand us this scope
Because it is rarely just the pond. Site water management ties into haul roads, laydown areas, stockpiles and process infrastructure, and it usually has to be built while the operation keeps running. Since 1986 we have worked inside the safety and environmental management systems of mine operators, forest products facilities and public owners, around live production, without incident.
